Drinking: Old Fashioned

Old Fashioned

My brother ordered this drink when we went out to dinner at Maximilen’s in Seattle and I promised to try it the next time I went out.  I love it!  Perfect sipping drink.  Thanks Dave!

School Project: The Bahamas

Ayla’s 6th Grade Social Studies/PACE class:  Design a poster of your country and a packaged product representing your country to barter.  The poster had several elements that needed to be included.  The product was Coconut Sunshine Cake with dried pineapple.  Final grade on the poster: 100.  Final grade on the product: 100.  Nailed it.

Ayla’s Summer

Ayla had her own adventure when she went to Turkey to visit her cousins.

Go-Karts!

Enjoying a meal with her grandparents, cousin and Aunt.

At the park with her cousin and grandmother.

Dessert!

Sculpture Museum

This trip was mainly for Evren – he wants to be a sculptor when he grows up.

Reading: The Geography of Bliss

The Geography of Bliss by Eric Weiner
One Grump’s Search for the Happiest Places in the World

GEOGRAPHY OF BLISS

Took longer than usual to read this book, but it was such a wonderful read.  Eric Weiner has such a pleasant writing style, I feel like we could be buddies!  I would highly recommend this book to anyone, regardless if you are looking for the key to happiness or not.  And if you are looking for what makes the most impact on personal happiness?  The answer is clear – you just have to read the book (or buy me a drink) for the answer.

Eric Weiner – Official Website

I am now stalking him on Facebook and Twitter.

My Nightmare Job

The kids had a fun time at the children’s museum. I’m sorry I don’t have any pictures of Ayla, she ditched us as soon as we walked in. I followed Evren around with the camera because I didn’t know what else to do.

Art Museum

This was the first exhibit to which Evren responded, “Is this supposed to be art?  Mom, can you explain this to me?”

Minimilist Art

I think my response was something along the lines of  “Um….”

Long Car Ride

I’m so sorry my parents had to endure car rides with the three of us with no portable dvd player.

Whatever it takes to keep them quiet
